JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Students from Fredonia, Frewsburg, and Southwestern high schools recently participated in a health and science journalism workshop coordinated by the Chautauqua Healthy Youth and Schools Program, Chautauqua Health Network, and SUNY Jamestown Community College.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — More than 150 area high school students were on the Jamestown Campus in March for SUNY Jamestown Community College’s third annual Leadership Conference. 

Crystal Rose-Williams, interim vice president of Student Experience, and Jennifer Forney, assistant Business professor, shared remarks to open the day, followed by a “Leadership in the Arts” panel led by JCC faculty and staff.

A recently released economic impact study shows SUNY Jamestown Community College substantial contributions to the regional economy, student success, and societal well-being. 

The independent study highlights how JCC enhanced the college’s service area in New York and Pennsylvania during the 2022–23 fiscal year by supporting local industries, students, taxpayers, and society overall.

OLEAN, N.Y. — The new Hatch Cafe on the SUNY Jamestown Community College Cattaraugus County Campus opened to the public on Monday with a flurry of activity and a line out the door at one point. 

Visitors to the cafe located in the College Center along North Union Street were greeted with green, gold, and white balloons at the entrance, homey decor and furniture inside, and the familiar flavorful coffees, desserts, soups, and charcuteries of the former La Dolce Vita that once operated down the street in downtown Olean.

OLEAN, N.Y. — Children and families are invited to a free showing of the movie “If” at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29 at Cutco Theater on the Cattaraugus County Campus of SUNY Jamestown Community College. 

Free tickets can be reserved online here. Popcorn and water will be provided at no cost and treats from the new Hatch Café will be available for purchase.

For Kipp Reynolds, the decision to enroll in the Building Automation Systems program at SUNY Jamestown Community College was more than just an educational choice — it was a life-changing pivot toward career stability and growth.

With a longstanding interest in the trades, the BAS program at JCC immediately stood out as a pathway to achieve that goal.

"I was in a career that was starting to be affected by AI, and wanted to pursue a career that provided more stability and longevity," Reynolds shared. "Plus, I had always been interested in the trades."

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The Peregrine Road duo of Rachel Bell on accordion and Karen Axelrod on piano and accordion are coming to the SUNY Jamestown Community College Jamestown Campus for a music residency on March 26. 

The virtuosic Vermont-based group will deliver a live concert at 12:20 p.m., plus presentations on “Music in the Human Experience” at 11 a.m. and “Accordion and Piano” at 1:30 p.m. All are free and open to the public and set for Room 138 of the Sheldon Center.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The SUNY Jamestown Community College Foundation recently received a $10,000 gift from the Michael Boedo Community Foundation. The gift endows the Michael Boedo Foundation Emergency Relief Fund, which will support the JCC Nursing program for years to come.

Opportunities to attend are scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 22, at the Jamestown Campus and 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 29, at the Cattaraugus County Campus in Olean.
