How to use AI in your career planning

When considering the use of artificial intelligence (AI), it’s important to be aware of its potential benefits, limitations, and impacts so that you can make an informed decision. It is also important to learn how to use AI effectively and ethically, if you choose to use it.

AI for assistance with career development can help with:

  • Brainstorming assistance
  • Increased efficiency and time savings
  • Developing the NACE career competency of Technology to strengthen your AI fluency and AI skills for in today’s market

AI effectiveness can be strongly influenced by the knowledge it has (regardless of accuracy or timeliness) and the prompts used, which can result in:

  • Inaccurate, biased, or false information
  • Vague content or failure to include very important content
  • Hindering your critical thinking and research skills
  • Environmental and ethical impacts

AI-generated content should never be used as a final product. You must still edit its results and be able to verify its accuracy. Continue to meet with Career Services for the most personal advice!
