Engineering, Manufacturing, & Applied Technology Career Community

Engineering, Manufacturing, & Applied Technology

The Engineering, Manufacturing, and Applied Technology career community at Jamestown Community College helps current and prospective STEM students understand the career opportunities available through participation in our engineering, manufacturing, and applied technology programs.

This career community also provides experiences and opportunities both inside and outside the classroom for networking, career mentoring, career field exploration, and planning for further studies (as needed) to help students map out a clear path to a rewarding career.

In addition to JCC's two-year degrees and one-year certificates in the engineering, manufacturing, and applied technology fields, students can also take advantage of:

Your first semester in Engineering, Manufacturing, & Applied Technology

Are you starting your first semester in the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Applied Technology career community, but don’t know which program to choose? You can enroll in Individual Studies and use our suggested Semester 1 schedule:

  • ENR 1560: Introduction to Engineering and Engineering Design
  • ENG 1510: English Composition I
  • MAT 1500 or higher: appropriate math course for degree
  • MCT 1240: Engineering Drawing with AutoCAD

This schedule provides a solid foundation for the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Applied Technology programs, with the flexibility to apply to other career communities if you later choose a different field of study.

Make sure to work with your advisor as you plan your schedule. Depending on your chosen field, not all suggested Semester 1 schedules guarantee an associate’s degree within two years.

From certificate to degree

In the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Applied Technology career community, your certificate can easily ladder, or transfer, into a degree. Your degree can be used in transfer agreements specific to your degree, or in a related field.

Student Spotlight: Carlos Rosario

Carlos Rosario knew in middle school that he wanted to pursue a trade. As a Welding Technology student at JCC, he's learned that his studies are more than a trade - they're an art.

Manufacturing Technology Institute

JCC's Manufacturing Technology Institute develops hands-on technical training to support advanced manufacturing in the Southern Tier region. JCC has an MTI on both the Jamestown and Cattaraugus County campuses.
