SUNY JCC Announces May 2024 Graduates

Kirk Young, vice president of Student Affairs, and Jessica Kubiak, vice president of Academic Affairs, at SUNY Jamestown Community College announced the names of those who were awarded degrees or certificates from the Jamestown and Cattaraugus County campuses in May 2024.

A total of 315 students earned degrees and certificates. Highest honors represents a 4.0 grade point average, high honors a 3.5 to 3.99 GPA, and honors a 3.25 to 3.49 GPA.

SUNY Jamestown Community College hosted a summer camp that had students entering ninth grade at Jamestown Public School soaring to new heights—both literally and figuratively. 

The Drone Soccer Summer Camp, designed to blend the excitement of soccer with the technology of drones, provided a thrilling educational adventure. The camp was led by JPS Technology teachers Daryl Damcott and Scott Van Stee, made possible through the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs grant at SUNY JCC.

OLEAN, N.Y. — SUNY Jamestown Community College celebrated students who completed the first section of the new Direct Support Professional microcredentials program last week on the Cattaraugus County Campus.

The cohort included 15 students employed by Intandem in Olean and Allegany. Six attended the campus gathering and received certificates of completion. They also shared their daily experiences helping people with developmental and physical challenges for Intandem, and how the JCC program is helping them grow as direct support professionals.

SUNY Jamestown Community College named the following high school students to the full-time student dean’s list during the 2023-24 academic year. Students must achieve a minimum GPA of 3.50 or better while enrolled in at least 12 degree hours to be eligible.

OLEAN, N.Y. — The Hatch Small Business Incubator at SUNY Jamestown Community College will be kicking off its first workshop in collaboration with the Cattaraugus County Cornell Cooperative Extension on Tuesday, July 16 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Cattaraugus County Campus College Center cafe.

The Jamestown Community College Foundation is teaming up with the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres foundations to help raise funds for the Unified Student Assistance Scholarship during their Give 716 campaign.
 
Give 716 begins at 7:16 p.m. on July 15 and runs through midnight on July 16. The goal is to unite Buffalo Bills and Sabres fans in a giving event that benefits nonprofit organizations in the Western New York area. Since its inception in 2021, the annual giving event has raised over $3.3 million for 601 participating charities.

Presale Tickets for Chautauqua County Fair Available at SUNY JCC North County Center

Presale tickets for the Chautauqua County Fair are available through July 15 at SUNY Jamestown Community College’s North County Center main office located at 10807 Bennett Road in Dunkirk. 

The presale cost for general admission is $10 each and will increase to $15 at the gate. Wende Lescynski, director of Adult Learner initiatives and the North County Center, says that anyone coming to the center to purchase fair tickets is also welcome to learn more about programs available through JCC while they are there.
