Michael Boedo Foundation Starts Emergency Relief Fund for SUNY JCC Nursing Students

Nursing students at the Jamestown Campus of SUNY Jamestown Community College have a new source of support, courtesy of the Michael Boedo Community Foundation.

The emergency relief fund was established with a gift of $1,000 from Brian Boedo, president of the foundation that was established in memory of his brother. Michael Boedo was a phlebotomist at TLC-Lakeshore Health Center in Irving before he died from an accidental overdose.

ELLICOTTVILLE, N.Y. – The 2024 JCC Golf Classic raised more than $13,000 for the SUNY Jamestown Community College Cattaraugus County Campus Alumni Association.

The 32nd annual tournament was held on June 19 at Holiday Valley’s Double Black Diamond course. Proceeds from the event will be used for study software to support Cattaraugus County Campus Nursing program students taking board certifying exams.

Participating were 144 golfers and 36 teams with winners crowned in men’s, women’s, and mixed divisions.

OLEAN, N.Y. — The YMCA of the Twin Tiers and SUNY Jamestown Community College are partnering to offer child care on JCC’s Cattaraugus County Campus in downtown Olean. The JCC YMCA Early Learning Center is scheduled to open this fall with the capacity to serve up to 56 children.

SUNY Jamestown Community College recently honored 65 high school students from throughout southwestern New York as the 2023-2024 students of the year in the College Connections program. 

In selecting the students of the year, schools were asked to consider College Connections participants who had embraced the challenges of completing college level work and demonstrated resourcefulness, integrity, and dedication.

New students can now register for Accepted Student Days at SUNY Jamestown Community College at sunyjcc.edu/asd. The half-day events provide a relaxed opportunity to gain necessary information and tools to navigate college.

Jamestown Campus dates are from 9 a.m. to noon on June 27, July 17 and 30, and Aug. 14. Cattaraugus County Campus dates are 9:30 a.m. to noon on July 10 and August 1.

Stephanie Cardone, Renee Funke, and Mark Kirsch of SUNY Jamestown Community College earned Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence from the State University of New York in professional service, teaching, and adjunct teaching, respectively.

The SUNY Chancellor's Awards for Excellence provide recognition for consistently superior professional achievement and to encourage the ongoing pursuit of excellence. The awards provide SUNY-wide recognition in five categories: faculty service, librarianship, professional service, scholarship and creative activities, and teaching.

SUNY JCC Holding Virtual FAFSA Assistance Sessions for Prospective Students and Families

SUNY Jamestown Community College is helping prospective students and families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Virtual support assistance led by JCC staff and students started in May and goes through the end of August. Sessions are scheduled for 11 a.m. to noon and 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Mondays, 11 a.m. to noon and 3-4 p.m. on Wednesdays, and 2-3 p.m. on Fridays.
