Jessica Kubiak never gave much thought to a future working in higher education administration. Even so, SUNY Jamestown Community College’s vice president of Academic Affairs understands how the path led her here.

Kubiak remembers being in her late 20s, returning to college after having two children and serving as a student representative for the educational policies committee at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A pop-up Remote Area Medical clinic (RAM) delivering free medical, dental, and vision care is coming to the SUNY Jamestown Community College Jamestown Campus on Sept. 14 and 15.

OLEAN, N.Y. — Art in the Quad, a reimagining of the former Art in the Park event that was hosted by the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce, is making a return.

Sponsored by SUNY Jamestown Community College and the Tri-County Arts Council, Art in the Quad is scheduled for Oct. 19 outdoors on the downtown Olean JCC Cattaraugus County Campus lawn. The event features a  juried fine arts show that showcases the finest art in southwestern New York and northwestern Pennsylvania.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — SUNY Jamestown Community College is hosting a screening of the award-winning film “Obsessed With Light” at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6 in the Jamestown Campus Student Union. Presented by the Jamestown Dance Festival, the showing is free, open to the public, and concludes with a panel discussion.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Open theater auditions for two SUNY Jamestown Community College Uncommoners productions are planned for 4-7 p.m. on September 4-5 in the Jamestown Campus Scharmann Theatre.

In a unique blend of art and education, high school students from Jamestown and Dunkirk recently participated in a hands-on glass blowing class at the Corning Museum of Glass.

International students playing soccer for SUNY Jamestown Community College arrived at the Jamestown Campus and were welcomed with a cookout last week. This is the first group of international students to arrive for the fall semester, with more expected in the coming weeks. The Global Learning team at JCC also create welcome bags for students using donated non-perishable food items, toiletries, and general gifts from the community. Contributions can be dropped off at the Hamilton Collegiate Center, room 60 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

A reunion for graduates of the Occupational Therapy Assistant program at SUNY Jamestown Community College is planned for 5:30 - 7 p.m. on Aug. 23 at the Atrium and Rooftop Patio of Northwest Arena.
 
The cost to attend is $5 per person and includes a drink ticket and appetizers. A cash bar will be available, and OTA alumni are welcome to bring a guest. Proceeds from the event will benefit SUNY JCC’s new Explore & Soar pediatric sensory clinic on the Jamestown Campus.
