Advisement Procedure for Current Students

Follow the steps below to prepare and register. Your advisor will expect you to have prepared a draft schedule to bring to your meeting. Need help? Attend an Advisement Prep Session with your Success Navigator!

Prepare for Advisement

  1. Review your academic progress by viewing your six-week grades in Banner and your Degree Works audit. If your advisor entered a plan in Degree Works, you'll find it in the Plans tab. 
  2. Find your classes by selecting "Browse Classes" in the Registration link of your Self-Service Banner.
  3. Write down the times, days and CRNs (course reference numbers) for each class (or do this electronically with Plan Ahead in Banner) so that they do not overlap. Your advisor will expect you to come prepared. 
  4. Keep your transfer plans in mind as you draft your schedule. Information on transfer planning can be found on the Transfer From JCC page. 

 

Schedule your Classes

Schedule an appointment with your advisor through Starfish (here's how!).  If you aren't sure who your advisor is, you can also find them in your Student Profile in Banner.
