Practical Nursing (LPN) Program Credentials

Accreditation

Jamestown Community College’s Practical Nursing certificate program is registered with the New York State Education Department (NYSED). JCC plans to apply for candidacy with the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) in fall 2026. The program is not currently accredited.

LPN licensure

Graduates of Jamestown Community College’s Practical Nursing certificate program are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). Passing the exam and meeting all other New York State requirements are necessary for licensure as a licensed practical nurse (LPN). Applicants must answer the criminal history questions on the New York State licensure application. A prior conviction does not automatically prevent licensure; the New York State Education Department reviews each applicant’s circumstances individually. Prospective students with questions about their eligibility are encouraged to contact the New York State Office of the Professions.
