At Jamestown Community College, you can earn your 350 educational hours needed for certification as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor-Trainee (CASAC-T). JCC has programs for working professionals, new students, and current students.
The New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (NYS OASAS) 350-hour educational requirement to become a CASAC-Trainee lets you apply for CASAC-T certification through NYS OASAS, with the goal of becoming fully credentialed as a CASAC in New York. Learn more about becoming a CASAC »
Working professionals
Complete your CASAC hours while working in the field through JCC’s Workforce Development. You can register for the full 350-hour program or by section.
- Your goal: Earn CASAC educational hours without enrolling in a formal academic program
- Your experience: You are a professional and already employed with a drug and alcohol center or agency
- You’ll finish with: 350 educational hours for CASAC
New students
Earn JCC’s Addictions Counseling A.S. degree and transfer to continue your education.
- Your goal: Earn your associate degree at JCC, and transfer for a bachelor’s degree in addictions counseling, healthcare, psychology, or human services
- Your experience: You don’t have prior education or experience in addictions counseling
- You’ll graduate with: Accredited two-year degree and 350 educational hours for CASAC
- Unique to the Addictions Counseling A.S. degree: You may qualify for the OASAS Addiction Professionals Scholarship. The program includes multiple scholarships, some which cover our full tuition.
Current students
Strengthen your current degree with JCC’s Addictions Counseling certificate.
- Your goal: Earn additional credentialing while studying another JCC degree
- Your experience: You are studying healthcare, psychology, human services, or a related field
- You’ll graduate with: Accredited one-year certificate and 350 educational hours for CASAC
