Xavier Smith is an advanced manufacturing instructor and curriculum developer for SUNY Jamestown Community College’s Workforce Development. His expertise is in teaching computer-aided design, machining, and mechanical engineering. 

Smith is a graduate of Alfred State College with an associate’s degree in Machine Tool Technology. He got his start in manufacturing while taking welding classes at BOCES in high school. 

Board of Trustees Committee Meetings

The SUNY Jamestown Community College Board of Trustees will hold committee meetings on Tuesday, Sept. 9 in the boardrooms of the Jamestown and Cattaraugus County campuses, and North County Center. Committee schedule is as follows:

  • 3 p.m. Human Resources Committee

Tim Piazza is an Engineering assistant professor at SUNY Jamestown Community College. He teaches Engineering Science and Mechanical Technology courses. 

Piazza is a 1989 JCC graduate who went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of Albany and a doctorate in Experimental Nuclear Physics from Stony Brook University.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of our beloved SUNY Jamestown Community College! To honor the milestone, we are counting from 75 to 1 throughout the 2025-26 academic year, with each number having a connection to the college’s history, legacy, people, and campuses.

New Student Worker Orientation

Did you recently get an on campus job? All new student workers who have never held an on campus job before are required to attend new student worker orientation prior to starting work. Returning student workers who have previously worked on campus do not have to attend.

These sessions will be held every Monday for five weeks. If you cannot make an in-person session, contact Julie Page to join remotely through Microsoft Teams.
