OLEAN, N.Y. — The Hatch Business Incubator at SUNY Jamestown Community College was one of eight organizations awarded a total of $200,000 in the final round of Springboard, a new regional, innovative rapid prize competition launched this year that aims to support those contributing to and expanding the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Buffalo, Rochester and Southern Tier communities.

SUNY Fredonia and SUNY Jamestown Community College have entered into a significant strategic partnership to support the educational journey of students.

The Preferred Partnership Agreement solidifies a favored relationship between the two campuses that’s committed to facilitating smooth degree completion for area students. The presidents of both schools signed the agreement on Oct. 2.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The winter holiday family show “Tales of Wonder” played to sold out audiences over three years of seasonal performances at the Penang Performing Arts Center in Malaysia. The man who wrote the production, Mark Sasse, is hoping to capture the same magic at SUNY Jamestown Community College.

OLEAN, N.Y. — Jack Tupper knew that pursuing a mechanical technology degree was right for him after he manufactured a catapult design from scratch for a solid modeling class last spring at SUNY Jamestown Community College.

“I was able to do it pretty much on my own,” Tupper said. “I probably got stuck on a few things where I asked for help, but it was just quite an eye-opener to kind of see really that, OK, I do enjoy this and I definitely want to pursue it.”

Five SUNY Jamestown Community College students recently received the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award for completing 300 hours of service to the college’s FAFSA Completion Corps. The award comes with a stipend of nearly $1,500 for each student.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — “Waterways Lake Chautauqua," a solo exhibition of works by Fredonia artist Timothy Frerichs, will be on display at SUNY Jamestown Community College’s Weeks Gallery from Oct. 31 to Dec. 12, with an opening reception scheduled for 5-7 p.m. on Nov. 1 that is free to attend and open to all.
