JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — SUNY Jamestown Community College is hosting a summer STEM camp that is made to spark curiosity and creativity in young learners through hands-on exploration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Open to children ages 10-13, the camp is scheduled for Monday, July 28 through Friday, August 1, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Jamestown Campus Science Center. The cost to attend is $50 and registration can be completed online.

Campers will dive into the fascinating worlds of biology, chemistry, and physics through interactive lessons, experiments, and real-world applications taught by JCC instructors. They will learn how energy is transferred and transformed, explore the principles of thermodynamics, and examine the forces that shape our physical world.

Participants will also conduct a forensic science experiment, explore how scientific principles impact the human body, and discover how those same principles play a key role in food science. Throughout the week, students will design simple experiments, apply scientific concepts in creative ways, and build critical thinking and teamwork skills.

"This camp is a fantastic way for middle school students to explore science in a fun and engaging setting,” said Kari Dundore-Shrout, a JCC Biology professor who is leading the camp. “Our hands-on approach encourages curiosity and builds a strong foundation for future learning in STEM."
