MSCHE Steering Committee

Steering Committee responsibilities & charge

Summary responsibilities of the Steering Committee:

  • Interface with stakeholders
  • Function as a check-in site for Working Groups
  • Trouble-shooting team
  • Drive evidence collection
  • Assist with revision and conduct final review prior to submission

The Steering Committee will use the following strategies to ensure regular, productive collaboration and to reduce duplication of efforts:

  1. Regular cross‑group convenings: The Steering Committee will schedule periodic joint meetings where Working Groups can share interim findings, discuss overlapping themes, and identify opportunities for appropriate alignment. These touchpoints will ensure that groups remain aware of one another’s progress and can coordinate areas of common focus to avoid overlap.
  2. Shared document repository and communication channels: All Working Groups will use a common digital workspace to house meeting notes, draft analyses, source materials, and data requests. This shared environment will allow groups to see what others are developing in real time.
  3. Alignment sessions at key milestones: At designated stages of the self‑study timeline, the Steering Committee will convene structured alignment sessions for groups to review specific themes, reconcile differing interpretations of evidence, and collectively refine the narrative threads that span multiple Standards.
  4. Coordinated data gathering and institutional research support: This step comes from a lesson learned after our last self-study. To reduce repeated requests and ensure consistency, the Steering Committee will coordinate institutional data collection through a central process managed in partnership with Institutional Research. Working Groups will be encouraged to pool data needs where possible.
