Advocate for the awareness of, and fight against, domestic violence by joining JCC in a pledge “not to hurt others with your words or hands.” The SAC'D club will also lead a Speak Out for anyone interested in sharing about addiction and recovery, or domestic violence.

Banned Books Read Out: "Freed Between the Lines"

Let's talk about Banned Books, censorship, and recent legislature passed to arrest librarians. Banned Books Week is an annual event launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in challenges to books in schools, bookstores, and libraries. The event highlights the value of free and open access to information, by bringing librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types together in shared support of the freedom to seek and express ideas.

The JCC Foundation is participating in Give 716: a collaborative effort between the Buffalo Bills Foundation and the Buffalo Sabres Foundation to unite Bills and Sabres fans in an epic giving event! All money raised during this event will benefit the Unified Student Assistance Scholarship.

Workshop: Sourdough Making

The Hatch, in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cattaraugus County, is excited to announce its first workshop! Learn the science behind sourdough, its history, and the science behind it. The workshop will cover fermentation, food safety, and how to make sourdough starter. Attendees will get recipes, taste different sourdoughs, and leave ready to begin baking at home with their own starter!

JCC is helping prospective students and families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Virtual support assistance led by college staff and students goes through the end of August. Sessions are scheduled for 11 a.m. to noon and 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Mondays, 11 a.m. to noon and 3-4 p.m. on Wednesdays, and 2-3 p.m. on Fridays.
