With national college decision day looming on May 1, delays with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid has many students wondering when they will know how much financial assistance they will receive.

The uncertainty may lead some to delay starting college, while others may continue on their path in hopes FAFSA comes through in time.

Community colleges with longer enrollment windows can offer a safer and affordable opportunity to those who don't want to put off starting their higher education journey.

SUNY JCC Occupational Therapy Class Achieves 100% Pass Rate on Certification

One hundred percent of SUNY Jamestown Community College's most recent Occupational Therapy Assistant program graduates attempting the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy passed the licensing exam.

According to the National Board’s website, of 12 New York colleges that offer the program, SUNY JCC was one of only three that achieved a 100% pass rate.

The Music department at SUNY Jamestown Community College released its spring schedule of events recently. These free events are all on the Jamestown Campus and open to the public.
 
The JCC Music Department Faculty Recital is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, April 28 in room 138 of the Sheldon Center. Faculty from the Music department will present an eclectic program full of dynamic performances.

SUNY Jamestown Community College’s annual Earthfest celebration is planned from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24 on the Jamestown Campus. 

Earthfest promotes the understanding, celebration, and stewardship of the Earth and its resources. Weather permitting, the event will span the central campus walkways near the pond and the Student Union. Local environmental organizations, student groups, and public agencies bring educational and informational displays and exhibits while eco-friendly businesses provide an assortment of earth-friendly items for purchase.

SUNY Jamestown Community College will host its annual Jazz Fest featuring “The Assembly” at 7 p.m. on April 26 in the Scharmann Theatre on the Jamestown Campus. 

The group will also lead an improvisation clinic at 6 p.m. in the Scharmann Theatre ahead of their performance. Both the clinic and concert are free and open to the public. Participants in the clinic are encouraged to bring a musical instrument.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — SUNY Jamestown Community College’s annual Juried Student Art and Design Exhibition opens with a reception and awards ceremony at 4 p.m. on April 26 in the Jamestown Campus Week Gallery. The event is free and open to the public.

SUNY Jamestown Community College students were inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society during ceremonies on April 9 on the Cattaraugus County Campus and April 10 on the Jamestown Campus.

A student must achieve at least a 3.50-grade point average to be considered for the national two-year college honor society.  

Forty-eight students were inducted into the Jamestown Campus Alpha Kappa Beta chapter, and 15 into the Cattaraugus County Campus Alpha Psi Omega chapter.
