Austyn Brumbaugh turned to computers and gaming early in his life because his unruly hands made activities like sports, art, and simple tasks like playing with Legos a challenge.

“Basically my hands mimic each other subconsciously,” he said, holding them out to prove it. “I’ve always been terrible at fine motor skills.”

Allegany: Kelsey Shea (Aaron Perez Media Arts Award)

Give Big CHQ: Help Fund the USA Scholarship

The USA Scholarship Endowment is critical to Jamestown Community College’s ability to attract top scholars. Since its inception, the scholarship has provided over $6 million to more than 3,000 students who graduated in the top 20% of their high school classes. These students attend JCC tuition free, and they are consistently among the college’s top performers.

Last year, 84 of the best and brightest students in our area took advantage of the USA Scholarship. Continue the legacy by supporting our next generation of USA Scholarship recipients.

SUNY Jamestown Community College’s commencement ceremonies will feature student speakers from the Cattaraugus County and Jamestown campuses.

Nursing student Anna Gilbert of Olean will speak at the Cattaraugus County Campus ceremony, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, May 17 at the Olean YMCA. Morgan Tobio, Fine Arts student of Hamden, Connecticut, will speak at the Jamestown ceremony, which will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 18 in the gymnasium of the Physical Education Complex on the Jamestown Campus.

SUNY Jamestown Community College is seeking nominations through Aug. 1 for its Alumni Nurse of Distinction Award.

Since its inception in 2002, the award has been presented to more than 120 outstanding JCC Nursing alumni. It honors those who have typified the JCC tradition of excellence, who exemplify the personal qualities of an ideal nurse, and who possess a deep professional commitment to excellence in patient care.

With national college decision day looming on May 1, delays with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid has many students wondering when they will know how much financial assistance they will receive.

The uncertainty may lead some to delay starting college, while others may continue on their path in hopes FAFSA comes through in time.

SUNY JCC Occupational Therapy Class Achieves 100% Pass Rate on Certification

One hundred percent of SUNY Jamestown Community College's most recent Occupational Therapy Assistant program graduates attempting the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy passed the licensing exam.

According to the National Board’s website, of 12 New York colleges that offer the program, SUNY JCC was one of only three that achieved a 100% pass rate.
