JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Artistic works produced by nine SUNY Jamestown Community College students earned awards at the Juried Student Art Exhibition that opened Friday, May 2 at Weeks Gallery on the Jamestown Campus.
Victoria Scalise of Jamestown won best in show for “Pierced,” created using pins and fabric.

Mattelynn Joint, Molly Pilling, Lily Camarata, Kelianet Torres Marrero,
Rachel LeRoy, Victoria Scalise, and professional juror Anna Wager.
Jackson Root of Jamestown won the President’s Choice Award for “Black, White and Read,” a sculptural piece created with cardboard, paper mâché, newspaper, and acrylic paint.
Lily Camarata of Jamestown won Artistic Excellence in Ceramics for “Upward Tunnels.”
Nicole Berry of South Africa on Artistic Excellence in Drawing for “Face.”
Emily Payne of Falconer won the Best Overall Portfolio Award.
Mattelynn Joint of Ripley won Artistic Excellence in Painting for “Lilacs.”
Kelianet Torres Marrero of Jamestown won Artistic Excellence in Sculpture for “Process is the Piece”
Molly Pilling of Sugar Grove, Pennsylvania won Artistic Excellence in Photography for “Whispers from the Past.”
Rachel LeRoy of Lakewood won Artistic Excellence in New Media for "Duality of Tala."
The exhibition featured approximately 60 creative works by student artists from all JCC locations, including those taking classes through JCC’s College Connections program. Winners received monetary awards.
This year’s juror, Anna Wager, lives and works in Buffalo, where she is curator of exhibitions at the University at Buffalo Art Galleries. She curates and programs Buffalo’s two gallery spaces, works with students and faculty, and promotes community access to research. The Jamestown native’s recent exhibitions include solo shows by Christy Rupp, Maria Guzmán Capron, and Yoonmi Nam.
