SUNY Jamestown Community College recently honored 66 high school students from throughout southwestern New York as the 2025-2026 students of the year in the College Connections program.   

In selecting the students of the year, schools were asked to consider College Connections participants who had embraced the challenges of completing college level work and demonstrated resourcefulness, integrity, and dedication.

Since the program began in Spring 2024, five students who have earned microcredentials through SUNY Jamestown Community College's Direct Support Professional Program have gone on to earn associate’s degrees, demonstrating how short-term credentials can serve as a pathway to higher education and career advancement. 

Samantha Wheeler and Heather Wildfire have earned an A.S. Individual Studies degrees; Herimone Riggs and Susanne Stone have graduated with A. S.Human Services degrees; and Samantha Simon was awarded an A.S. Business Administration degree.

Christine Beichner-Miller of Southwestern High School has been named SUNY Jamestown Community College's 2025-26 College Connections Teacher of the Year. 

The College Connections program recognizes one instructor each year who best exemplifies its core standards. Beichner-Miller was selected from more than 200 teachers representing 38 partner high schools and BOCES centers.

The following SUNY Jamestown Community College earned part-time Dean’s List honors for academic excellence during the spring 2026 semester. To be eligible, a student must achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.50 while enrolled in six-to-11-degree credits.

The following SUNY Jamestown Community College earned full-time Dean’s List honors for academic excellence during the spring 2026 semester. To be eligible, a student must achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.50 while enrolled in at least 12-degree credits.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — High school students from Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties showcased their public speaking skills during the 14th annual College Connections Speech Contest held April 22 in SUNY Jamestown Community College’s Scharmann Theatre.

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — Crystal Rose-Williams and Kyle Brown represented SUNY Jamestown Community College at an AI forum for regional business and community leaders in May at the Doyle Conference Center at St. Bonaventure University. 

Hosted by St. Bonaventure in partnership with JCC, the forum brought together leaders from education, business, and community organizations to discuss the growing role of artificial intelligence in higher education, workforce development, and regional innovation.

SUNY JCC to Participate in Give Big CHQ 2026

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — SUNY Jamestown Community College will take part in Give Big CHQ, a 24-hour online fundraising event supporting local nonprofits, on June 11. 

The college will raise funds for its Outstanding Future Educator Scholarship, which is awarded to a rising sophomore education major who demonstrates strong potential, character and growth as a future educator. JCC’s goal is to raise $2,000. 

Give Big CHQ connects donors with causes across Chautauqua County and provides nonprofit organizations with a platform to raise money and awareness for their missions.
