SUNY JCC Students Collect more than 100 Autographs to Support Cancer-Focused Non-Profit

SUNY Jamestown Community College students enrolled in Sport in Society this fall collected more than 100 autographed items from professional athletes, Hall of Famers, All-Stars, and coaches to support the nonprofit organization Autographs for a Cure.  

Through mailed outreach efforts, students received autographed cards, photographs, and index cards from notable sports figures including Barry Sanders, Shaquille O’Neal, Goose Gossage, Steve Largent, Joe Theismann, James Lofton, and Steve Tasker, among many others.

SUNY Jamestown Community College celebrated the achievements of its Honors students during the fall semester Student Showcase on Friday, Dec. 5.  

Formerly known as Scholars Day, the JCC Student Showcase provides a platform for students to share their stories, academic accomplishments, and applied learning experiences with the campus community.

SUNY Jamestown Community College has received the 90+ cashVest Award for 2025 in recognition of its leadership in public finance liquidity management. 

The award is presented through a collaboration between the National Association of Counties and three+one, a national financial technology firm that evaluates cash-management practices in the public sector. The recognition highlights JCC’s commitment to maximizing taxpayer and tuition dollars to deliver strong financial benefits to the communities it serves. 

Board of Trustees Committee Meetings

The SUNY Jamestown Community College Board of Trustees will hold committee meetings on Tuesday, Dec. 9 in the boardrooms of the Jamestown and Cattaraugus County campuses, and SUNY Fredonia Tech Incubator, 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Committee schedule is as follows:

  • 3 p.m. Educational Services Committee
  • 3:45 p.m. Finance and Audit Committee

CELORON, N.Y. — The SUNY Jamestown Community College Foundation recognized recipients of the John D. Hamilton and Distinguished Alumnus awards during its annual awards gala on Thursday, Nov. 6 at the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel. 

This year’s honorees of the Hamilton Award include former longtime faculty members Chuck Brininger, Cindy Hinz, Becky Nystrom, and Frank and Elizabeth Petiprin, along with retired staff members Denise Burbey, Maria Kindberg, Michael Moots, and Anthony and Connie Pilato.
