A community college in his hometown was what Dennis Webster needed during a time when he felt "fully lost."
Webster was three weeks into his freshman year at Syracuse University – "a kid from a small town at very big university" in his words – when his father, Doc, died at age 59.
"So, I left Syracuse University after one semester," Webster recalled recently.
Presented by AssuredPartners, the Gala begins at 5 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., followed by the award presentations.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Cattaraugus County Campus, the JCC Foundation will honor James Stitt Jr., vice president and CEO of CUTCO, and community civic leader Susanna Stitt with the John D. Hamilton Award.
JCC is participating in Cattaraugus Gives, a 24-hour online fundraising event on Dec. 1 that connects individuals with causes they care about in the community.
Hosted by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation, the JCC Foundation is raising money for the Kathleen Marzec Nursing Scholarship. Awarded to a Nursing program student on the Cattaraugus County Campus with a 3.0 GPA or higher, the scholarship was established in 2025 by Marzec's family in her memory.
