Nikita McCoy keeps going.  

When giving up would be easy, maybe even reasonable, she continues to move forward. She feels too much support, too many people behind her, not to keep charging ahead. 

It comes from her four children, her husband and his two children, and the faculty and staff at SUNY Jamestown Community College. 

And especially her late father. 

It was their dream. Together. The one that is about to come true.

SUNY Jamestown Community College has named student speakers for its spring 2026 commencement ceremonies.  

Alexandria Goodyear will address fellow graduates during the Cattaraugus County Campus ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday, May 15, in the Olean YMCA, and Miguel Cocerez will speak during the Jamestown Campus ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16, in the Physical Education Complex.

Allegany: Sidney Gleason (Geoffrey O. Dodd Transfer Scholarship)

OLEAN, N.Y. — SUNY Jamestown Community College Workforce Development will offer a two-session retirement planning course in May designed to help people approaching retirement make informed financial decisions and prepare for the future. 

Retirement Planning Today will be held at the Cattaraugus County Manufacturing Technology Institute. Participants can choose between two class schedules: May 5 and 12 or May 7 and 14. Each session runs from 6 to 9 p.m.

SUNY Jamestown Community College will host its 2026 Student Showcase Celebration on Friday, May 1, highlighting student achievement across a wide range of disciplines. The event is free and open to the public. 

The showcase will take place in two parts. In-person presentations will be held from noon to 2 p.m. in the Student Union on the Jamestown Campus. Virtual presentations by online and Cattaraugus County Campus students will follow from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

OLEAN, N.Y. — SUNY Jamestown Community College hosted the biannual Western New York Community College AI Consortium in the Magnano Room at its Cattaraugus County campus on Friday, April 10.

The meeting brought together more than 40 participants from six regional community colleges to discuss effectively implementing and expanding artificial intelligence use on their campuses.
