SUNY JCC Announces May 2026 Graduates

SUNY Jamestown Community College Vice President of Student Experience Ron Shidemantle and Vice President of Academic Affairs Jessica Kubiak have announced the 349 graduates who earned degrees or certificates from the Jamestown and Cattaraugus County campuses in May 2026. 

Students who earned highest honors achieved a 4.0 grade point average. High honors recognizes students with GPAs of 3.5 to 3.99, while honors recognizes those with GPAs of 3.25 to 3.49.

When Gary Bays decided to return to college after 10 years away from the classroom, he faced a challenge familiar to many adult learners: how to pay for it. 

With help from SUNY Reconnect, Bays earned a Nursing degree with high honors from SUNY Jamestown Community College in May and saved about $10,000 during his final academic year.

Registration is now open for new student orientation at SUNY Jamestown Community College for first-time, full-time students enrolled for the fall semester. 

Two orientation sessions are scheduled at the Cattaraugus County Campus on Wednesday, Aug. 19. The first session will be held from noon to 4:30 p.m., with check-in beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the Library & Liberal Arts Center lobby. A second session will run from 3:30 to 8 p.m., with check-in beginning at 3 p.m. in the Cutco Theater lobby.

Board of Trustees Committee Meetings

The SUNY Jamestown Community College Board of Trustees will hold committee meetings on Tuesday, June 9 in the boardrooms of the Jamestown and Cattaraugus County campuses, and SUNY Fredonia Tech Incubator, 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk.

Committee schedule is as follows:

  • 3 p.m. Finance and Audit Committee
  • 3:45 p.m. Buildings and Grounds Committee

Nikita McCoy keeps going.  

When giving up would be easy, maybe even reasonable, she continues to move forward. She feels too much support, too many people behind her, not to keep charging ahead. 

It comes from her four children, her husband and his two children, and the faculty and staff at SUNY Jamestown Community College. 

And especially her late father. 

It was their dream. Together. The one that is about to come true.
