JCC-UPMC Radiologic Technology Agreement

Study radiologic technology at JCC

Use state-of-the-art equipment to produce clear images of the human body. Provide compassionate patient care. Become a radiologic technologist with Jamestown Community College and UPMC.

JCC has partnered with the UPMC Chautauqua School of Radiology, where you can earn a JCC associate degree by completing 30 credits at JCC and 30 credits through UPMC. An associate degree is required to work as a radiologic technologist.

Through this agreement, you will:

  • Earn an associate of applied science (A.A.S.) degree in Individual Studies
  • Gain experience from expert faculty in both the classroom and hospital setting
  • Be eligible to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification examination or an unrestricted state licensing examination
Steps to Study Radiology at JCC
  1. Apply to JCC. For your program of interest, select Individual Studies A.A.S.
  2. When you meet with your JCC advisor, let them know that you are interested in the JCC-UPMC radiologic technology agreement. Your advisor will help you schedule courses to meet JCC degree requirements. Review full agreement details and course recommendations »

About UPMC Chautauqua School of Radiology

The UPMC Chautauqua School of Radiologic Technology has served Chautauqua County with well qualified, compassionate, and dedicated radiologic technologists since 1967. The radiology program consistently maintains accreditation by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT) and is recognized by the New York State Department of Health.

Christina Slojkowski, MS, RT (R), UPMC program director: As a registered technologist in radiography with over 20 years of experience teaching the clinical and didactic portions of the UPMC program, I understand the foundational information needed for students to succeed in all aspects of their training. My goal is to guide students throughout the process so they can become certified and registered at the end of the program. I have also been an adjunct instructor of JCC's anatomy and physiology lab class since 2002.

Your Future as a Radiologic Technologist: Jobs & Wages

Radiologic technologists, often referred to as rad techs or radiographers, work with radiology equipment to acquire and manipulate images of tissue, organs, bones, and vessels of the body. These images are utilized by radiologists to diagnose and treat patients.

Radiographers may specialize in:

  • Mammography
  • Computed tomography (CT scans)
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and other types of imaging

In Chautauqua County, radiologic technologists typically earn a starting wage of $24-$28 per hour with an associate degree. Wages often increase by several dollars per hour after specialized training is completed (ex. CT scan, mammography, MRI).

Due to high demand for radiographers, many rad techs enjoy additional benefits, such as sign-on bonuses and tuition reimbursement.
