SUNY Jamestown Community College is partnering with BetterMynd, an online therapy provider that partners exclusively with colleges and universities across the United States to offer students access to free, high-quality counseling services.

In response to the growing importance of mental health awareness and the evolving needs of students, JCC has taken a proactive step to expand the support and resources available to its campus community. The partnership with BetterMynd will enable students to access confidential and convenient mental health services remotely, providing the flexibility to prioritize their well-being alongside their academic and personal responsibilities.

BetterMynd supplements JCC’s on-campus mental health resources by offering free, personalized online therapy sessions to meet each student’s unique needs. Services include 50-minute counseling sessions, access to a diverse network of licensed mental health clinicians, and flexible scheduling options that allow students to seek help during the day, at night, or on weekends — wherever they feel most comfortable.

“At JCC, we’re always looking for ways to help our students succeed, both in and out of the classroom,” said Morgan Franchina, JCC’s Success Center director. “Partnering with BetterMynd allows us to remove barriers to mental health care and give students another safe, accessible way to find the support they need.”

Founded in 2017, BetterMynd is the online therapy solution of choice for more than 100 colleges and universities throughout the U.S. Through a national network of 400-plus licensed, in-state mental health counselors and a proprietary, HIPAA-compliant online platform, BetterMynd provides confidential, flexible therapy services designed specifically for college students.

“I know how hard it can be for a college student to struggle with their mental health and access the support and treatment they need in a confidential and timely manner,” said Cody Semrau, founder and CEO of BetterMynd. “I founded BetterMynd with a simple mission: to help colleges and universities make mental health support more accessible to their students.”

Students can register for BetterMynd counseling services using their JCC email address at bettermynd.com

In addition to the new partnership, JCC offers a range of mental health and wellness resources for students.

Its Success Center provides individualized support, stress management techniques, and connections to community services. Meditation rooms on campus offer a quiet space for relaxation, while partnerships with local agencies such as the Salvation Army and Connecting Communities in Action help students access specialized services, including support for victims of domestic violence.

JCC also connects students to crisis hotlines, national resources, and online tools designed to promote mental well-being and manage anxiety.
