SUNY Jamestown Community College continues to serve students, employers, and communities in northern Chautauqua County through a new instructional location on the SUNY Fredonia campus, ensuring continued access to education and workforce training following the closure of its North County Center in Dunkirk.
Beginning in December 2025, JCC transitioned its Workforce Development offerings to classroom and office space in Fenton Hall on the Fredonia campus, building on a long-standing partnership between the two institutions and supporting ongoing evaluation of future academic offerings in the region.
“We remain committed to providing access to education and training in northern Chautauqua County,” JCC president Daniel DeMarte said. “Our partnership with SUNY Fredonia allows us to continue serving students and employers while we adapt to changing needs.”
Workforce Development training remains a primary focus of JCC’s North County presence. Current offerings include water and wastewater certification courses that support municipalities and utility providers across New York state, along with professional development courses for supervisors, managers, and frontline employees.
In addition, JCC continues to support students in northern Chautauqua County through its preferred transfer partnership with SUNY Fredonia and its High School Partnerships programs, which provide local students with early access to college coursework and streamlined transfer opportunities.
Under the preferred partnership agreement, JCC graduates receive benefits related to admissions, transfer credit evaluation, course registration, and campus engagement at SUNY Fredonia.
“We are focused on meeting community needs as they evolve,” DeMarte said. “Through strong partnerships, workforce training, and support for students from high school through transfer, we are ensuring continued access to quality education in northern Chautauqua County.”
