SUNY Jamestown Community College’s Dr. Arnaud Lambert has been accepted into the State University of New York’s prestigious and highly competitive Institute for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Professionals.

The six-month program, held annually from January through June, is designed to develop and enhance the leadership capacity of DEI practitioners across the SUNY system. Fellows engage in intensive training sessions, webinars, and project-based work that deepen their understanding of inclusive teaching practices, student support strategies, and the creation of equitable campus environments.

“We’re incredibly proud of Dr. Lambert’s acceptance into this competitive SUNY program,” said Dr. Jessica Kubiak, JCC’s vice president of Academic Affairs and Workforce Development. “His commitment to fostering an inclusive campus environment is evident in everything he does, from his leadership to his work in the classroom. We look forward to seeing how his experience in the program enhances our ongoing initiatives to support students from all backgrounds.”

Lambert, JCC’s associate dean of Public and Professional Services, joined the college in 2023 as an associate professor of anthropology and sociology before moving into his current leadership role. He holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from Brandeis University, a master’s degree in anthropology from the University of Iowa, and a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the University of Rhode Island.

At JCC, Lambert teaches courses that examine the human experience across cultures — primarily in anthropology and sociology — giving students tools to understand the social forces that shape their lives and communities.

Acceptance to the SUNY Institute is limited to full-time SUNY employees who meet rigorous eligibility criteria. Applicants must hold at least a master’s degree, have two to five years of experience supporting SUNY students, faculty, or staff from diverse backgrounds, and demonstrate a strong record of advancing student success, especially for those facing barriers to access and opportunity. Participants must also show proven leadership potential and a clear professional trajectory aligned with advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
