OLEAN, N.Y. — Spring semester student leaders at SUNY Jamestown Community College’s Cattaraugus County Campus were announced recently following elections.

Serving on the JCC Student Senate are Luthaya Beard and Phoenix Beard of Friendship; Pattie Best of Portville, Nicholas Camillo of Franklinville, Derek Crimmins of Allegany; Allison Langston of Wellsville; Jillian Long of Portville; and Madison Summers of Portville.

Crimmins was elected president, Phoenix Beard vice president, Langston treasurer, and Luthaya Beard secretary.

Student Senate is the officially-recognized, student-governing body of the college. Members represent the student body and the community, and have a direct voice in student affairs and college activities.

The group has been active in community volunteering this semester. The students have visited residents at the Pines nursing home in Olean, made pet toys to donate to the Cattaraugus County SPCA, and helped care for the animals there. They are also collecting food and clothing donations for the Harvest Field Ministries soup kitchen in Olean and have a community cleanup event planned for April 29.

Lisa Yohon, Cattaraugus County Campus director of Campus Life, is the Senate advisor.
