A transfer articulation agreement between JCC and Duquesne University’s pharmacy program establishes a six-year pathway leading to doctor of pharmacy degree.
As part of the agreement, students attend JCC for two years of pre-pharmacy coursework before applying to the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy for the “professional phase” of their studies.
Criteria for application to the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy, including required JCC degree, coursework, grade point average, Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) score, interview with the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy faculty, letter of recommendation, and evidence of leadership potential and commitment to the pharmacy profession, are defined in the agreement.
In each academic year, the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy will admit at least two and up to four JCC students who meet the minimum criteria. The agreement addresses additional criteria for granting preference if more than two JCC applicants meet the minimum criteria in any given year.
Duquesne, located in Pittsburgh, has a student body of more than 6,000 undergraduates and 3,200 graduates and professional students. Duquesne’s pharmacy program was ranked second in the nation among Catholic schools by the U.S. News & World Report in 2017.
