Adjunct Instructor

I absolutely love biology and sharing my passion. I teach courses in the health and environmental sciences, as well as the Science Undergraduate Research Initiative: Environmental, which is a research course. Our research has primarily involved field and laboratory research of freshwater systems, both stream and lake, and forest ecology. I have just recently stepped in as a co-instructor of the Tropical Biology course which includes a field experience in Costa Rica and Panama! Other places where I have studied biology include Jamaica and Baffin Island in the Arctic.

I am a firm believer in getting students out into the field and accomplish this mainly through field trips in my conservation biology course and by overseeing various individual internships. Owl banding is a favorite field trip of my conservation biology students. Some of my courses are offered at the honor's level, providing additional field and leadership opportunities for students. In addition to my academic duties, I serve as the advisor of the Earth Awareness Club, a very active club on the Jamestown Campus. We welcome new members at any time.

I have been honored with a Conservation Stewardship Award presented by the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy, the President's Award for Excellence in Teaching by JCC, and the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching.
