Interim Dean

David Kadanoff is the interim dean of Arts, Humanities, and Health Sciences at Jamestown Community College. He received his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California, San Diego, where he was awarded the UCSD Distinguished Teaching Award. Prior to working at JCC, David was a term assistant professor at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.

David's teaching style focuses on engaging students to be active learners and active participants in their communities. David has taught courses in Introduction to Sociology, Criminology, Race & Ethnicity, Popular Culture, Social Problems, Marriage & the Family, Field Research Methods, Technology & Society, Youth Subcultures, and Introduction to Psychology.

David's research explores the ability of consumers to effect social change in the design of material goods and in the practices that produce those goods. His dissertation, "Designing Users: The Social Construction of Users in Product Design," investigates how designers of technology construct and interact with users.

In his free time, David loves hiking, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing with his wife and their dog. He also enjoys learning photography and cooking for friends and family.
