SUNY JCC's Parmenter Honored for Excellence in Instructional Support
SUNY Jamestown Community College’s Laura Parmenter was recently honored with the Faculty Advisory Council on Teaching and Technology Excellence in Instructional Support award for community colleges by the State University of New York.
Parmenter is JCC’s director of Online Learning and interim director of the Learning Commons, which provides students with access to library services, tutoring help, and accessibility support.
SUNY JCC Student Art and Design Exhibition Opening Coming to Weeks Gallery
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — SUNY Jamestown Community College’s annual Student Art & Design Exhibition opening reception and awards ceremony is set for 5-7 p.m. on Friday, May 2 at the Jamestown Campus Weeks Gallery. The event is free to attend and open to the public.
SUNY JCC Launches Engineering and Workforce Development Endowment in Memory of Longtime Professor
Richard Thor’s life journey isn’t unlike many who have graduated from SUNY Jamestown Community College over the school’s 75 years. JCC might not have been in the original plans, or thought to be the best path forward, but ends up being a considerable launching pad to career success.
Thor came back to his hometown of Jamestown in 1973 after serving in the Navy for four years. He was married and working the third shift at a grocery warehouse, 7 p.m. until 3 in the morning.
Board of Trustees Meeting
The SUNY Jamestown Community College Board of Trustess will meet in the boardrooms of the Jamestown and Cattaraugus County campuses, and North County Center.

SUNY JCC Awards Life Credit, Certificate to Former 87-Year-Old Student
OLEAN, N.Y. — Paul Jewett pulled out two manilla folders that had been securely tucked away in a dresser drawer in his room at the Eden Heights assisted living community.
He hadn’t rummaged through the contents of those folders much over the years. But they’ve been in the back of his mind, and they mean a lot to him.
One contains his college transcript, in perfect condition, protected by a plastic covering. The other is filled with original papers he wrote on typewriter while taking classes at SUNY Jamestown Community College in the 1980s.
Spring Concert 2025
The JCC Music Department is proud to present the 2025 Spring Concert! This exciting program features the JCC Concert Choir and Concert Band performing a variety of selections in different styles. The Concert Choir is directed by Julie Costantini and the Concert Band is under the direction of Chris Wakefield. The concert is open to the public with no charge for admission.

SUNY JCC Alumni Golf Classic Set for June 18 at Holiday Valley
SUNY Jamestown Community College’s annual Golf Classic returns to the Holiday Valley Double Black Diamond Course in Ellicottville on Wednesday, June 18.
This year’s tournament marks the 33rd annual event that raises funds for the JCC alumni associations.
Economic Impact Study Shows SUNY JCC as a Catalyst for Regional Growth and Societal Well-Being
A recently released economic impact study shows SUNY Jamestown Community College substantial contributions to the regional economy, student success, and societal well-being.
The independent study highlights how JCC enhanced the college’s service area in New York and Pennsylvania during the 2022–23 fiscal year by supporting local industries, students, taxpayers, and society overall.
