HVAC Fundamentals through Workforce Development

Jamestown Community College offers two HVAC Fundamentals modules through Workforce Development.

HVAC Fundamentals I

In HVAC Fundamentals I, students will have the opportunity to learn the theory and hands-on skills to gain the foundational knowledge of Hydronic and Forced Air Heating systems. The successful completion of the 75-hour HVAC module I course will allow and prepare students to take the more advanced 75-hour HVAC module II course.

Topics include: blueprints and wiring diagrams; HVAC tools, equipment, and troubleshooting; mathematics for HVAC; piping materials and fittings; radiant heat systems; safety; soldering, brazing, and welding; Theory of Electricity - I; valves and meters

HVAC Fundamentals II

In HVAC Fundamentals II, students will continue to learn the theory and hands-on skills to gain the foundational knowledge of Air Conditioning and Forced Air Heating systems. The successful completion of the HVAC module II will allow and prepare students for an entry-level position in an HVAC career. At the end of the program, students will have the opportunity to sit for the Section 608 EPA Universal Certification exam.

Topics include: advanced heat gain theory; air conditioning equipment; HVAC distribution systems; job organization; print reading; refrigerants and basic refrigerant cycle; temperature and pressure; Theory of Electricity - II; troubleshooting HVAC equipment; working with metering devices
