Construction technology through Workforce Development

The Construction Technology program through Workforce Development at Jamestown Community College is a 21-week program offering approximately 240 hours of instruction. You'll be prepared for entry-level employment and continued education in the construction trades.

Using the National Center for Construction Education and Research curriculum, you'll engage in classroom instruction, hands-on labs, and project-based learning. The program emphasizes technical skills, safety, and workforce readiness.

  • Instruction includes residential plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, masonry and concrete, drywall and interior finishing, and roofing and exterior finishing.
  • All students complete OSHA 10 training to develop essential workplace safety knowledge.
  • A key component of the program is the construction of a shed, where you'll apply skills across multiple phases of residential construction.

Modular learning format

The program is delivered in modules, so you can enroll in the full program or select modules based on your goals. In each module, you'll focus on specific trade areas while gaining exposure to a broad range of construction skills.

  • Core Safety module: Blueprint Reading; Construction Math; Job-ready Communication; OSHA 10; Tool Safety
  • Foundational module: Exterior Finishing; Floor Systems; Lift Certification; Masonry; Roofing Systems; Wall, Stair, and Roof Framing Install Ceiling Joists
  • Skilled Trades module: Drywall; DWV Systems; First Aid/CPR/AED; Fittings; HVAC Basics; Interior Finishing; Lift Certification; Plastic & Copper Piping; Plumbing; Residential Electrical Systems
