Short-term training at JCC in community health
Students who complete the Community Health microcredential at Jamestown Community College will be able to work on the front lines of public health, helping community members to adopt healthy behaviors and to find needed services. The Community Health Worker develops relationships with the community, performs outreach activities, teaches important health information, and advocates for the community. CHWs may work for hospitals, clinics, agencies, non-profits, prisons, and insurance companies - anywhere they are needed.

How to earn
- Apply to JCC and choose your degree or certificate program.
- Work with your advisor to register for the microcredential courses.
- After you've completed the courses, contact the Registrar's Office to have it added to your record.

Through the program, you will:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the social determinants of health.
- Demonstrate an understanding of motivational interviewing.
- Demonstrate an understanding of how the principles of rights, access, equity, and autonomy apply to social justice action, past, current, or future.
