JCC’s wrestling team is tied at No. 19 in the National Junior College Athletic Association’s national ranking.
The Jayhawks started the season with a tough schedule, facing four National Collegiate Athletic Association schools and falling in three of the matches. JCC posted wins over University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, which is a NCAA Division III team, and Muskegon Community College.
Dan Torres of Cassadaga placed at the Washington and Jefferson Invitational, New York State Championships, and the Thunderwolves Open in the 174-pound weight class.
Jacob Smith of Virginia Beach, VA placed sixth at the Washington and Jefferson Invitational in the heavyweight class while Taige Jones of Bemus Point took first in the 141-pound weight class at the Thunderwolves Open. Colten Studley of Bolivar and Otto Davidson of Congers placed third and fifth, respectively.
