JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Liberty Partnerships program students from Jamestown, Dunkirk, and Salamanca school districts, along with their family members, participated in SUNY Jamestown Community College’s annual Winterfest celebration in January on the Jamestown Campus.
Attendees, including 130 middle and high school students, engaged in various activities, including karaoke, face painting, a hot chocolate bar, a snowflake treasure hunt, arts and crafts, games, and prize giveaways. The event also featured a dessert buffet and dinner provided by Honest John's Pizzeria.
Members of JCC’s men's and women's basketball teams volunteered to help make the event a success.
“Our team eagerly anticipates this event each year, as it offers a valuable opportunity to foster and strengthen connections within the Liberty Partnerships Program community,” said Laura Turnbull, director of JCC’s program.
JCC’s Liberty Partnerships program supports middle and high school students completing high school and preparing for college through a grant from the New York State Education Department. On-site navigators at Dunkirk, Jamestown, and Salamanca schools help students with academic support, personal learning plans, leadership goals, college preparedness, and service learning.
