SUNY JCC Recognizes Honors Program Students

Students who earned SUNY Jamestown Community College’s honors citation during the 2020-21 academic year were honored at a special ceremony held recently via Zoom. 

Those earning the citation were: Marilynn Amborski, of Westfield, N.Y.; Olivia Clamp of Ashville,  N.Y.; Audrey Ferrie, of Warren Pa.; Megan Finson of Bemus Point, N.Y.; Ekaterina Grigoreva, of Novosibirsk, Russia; Taylor Haight, of Pittsfield, Pa.; Courtney Koch, of Jamestown, N.Y.; Carolyn Krenzel, of Olean, N.Y.; Rhiley Langworthy, of Bolivar, N.Y.; Bagul Mammedova, of Yoloten, Turkmenistan; Gillian Mead, of Mayville, N.Y.; Ashley Miller, of Allegany, N.Y.; Meredith Rohlin, of Jamestown, N.Y.; Sarah Russo, of Jamestown, N.Y.; Charles Sisson, of Jamestown, N.Y.; Tanisha Sprester, of Allegany, N.Y.; Kira Steinwandt, of Olean, N.Y.; and Aimee Zynda, of Collins, N.Y. 

To be awarded JCC’s honors citation, a student is required to successfully complete a globally-focused honors symposium course as well as two project-based honors courses. Recent symposium courses have focused on immigration, artificial intelligence, Palestine, and food sustainability. 

JCC President Daniel DeMarte and Lisa Cooper, honors program coordinator, congratulated the students who received honors cords and certificates. Marilyn Zagora, vice president of academic affairs, and Nelson Garifi, executive director of academic innovation, shared remarks with the students and their guests.
