The SUNY Jamestown Community College Foundation will direct all funds raised during this year’s Give Big CHQ campaign on June 12 to the Daniel F. Courtine Engineering and Workforce Development Endowment.

Give Big CHQ is a 24-hour online fundraising event that helps individuals find and contribute to causes they care about in Chautauqua County. The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation hosts this initiative to bring the community together in celebration of the work of local nonprofit organizations, of which 125 are participating this year.

Courtine was a longtime engineering professor at JCC who passed away last May at 82. An anonymous donor contributed $40,000 to start the endowment and pledged another $40,000 to match future donations.

“Dan Courtine was a mentor, pioneer, and a true champion for student success,” said Katrina Leake, JCC’s development and alumni relations coordinator. “This endowment honors his legacy by supporting the next generation of engineers and skilled workers in our region. We’re proud to dedicate this year’s Give Big CHQ efforts to a cause that reflects his lifelong commitment to education and community impact.”

Since 2018, Give Big CHQ has raised more than $2 million dollars for regional nonprofits. To give to the Daniel F. Courtine Engineering and Workforce Development Endowment, visit givebigchq.org
