As employers across the region continue to look for ways to strengthen their teams and develop their employees, SUNY Jamestown Community College is offering many professional development opportunities this fall through its Workforce Development department.
The fall schedule includes courses focused on communication, team building, leadership, human resources, project management, and other skills that can benefit professionals at a variety of career stages.
“Investing in professional development is an investment in both employees and the organizations they work for,” said Jackie Patterson, Workforce Development program manager at JCC. “We’ve designed our fall offerings to address practical skills that professionals can take back to the workplace and put into practice right away.”
Several courses will be offered on JCC’s Cattaraugus and Chautauqua County locations:
- Communication Effectiveness — Thursday, Sept. 24, 9 a.m. to noon, with instructor Katrina Jones.
- Building Trust & the Helping Relationship — Wednesday, Sept. 30, 9 a.m. to noon, with instructor Susan LaGraves.
- Building High Performing Teams — Thursday, Oct. 1, 9 a.m. to noon, with Jones.
- New Supervisor Training – Wednesdays, Sept. 16 – Oct. 7, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with Jones and Ginine Capozzi
- Human Resource Fundamentals – Tuesdays, Sept. 22 – Oct. 20, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with Jones
JCC also will offer live courses through Zoom, providing professionals with the opportunity to participate without traveling to campus. Upcoming online courses include:
- Notary Public — Friday, Oct. 2, 9 a.m. to noon.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification — Monday, Oct. 5, through Friday, Oct. 9, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The courses are designed for individuals seeking to build their professional skills as well as employers interested in providing training opportunities for their employees.
“Whether someone is stepping into a supervisory role, looking to improve their communication skills or pursuing a professional certification, continuing education can provide valuable skills and credentials that support career growth,” said Patterson. “We encourage area professionals and employers to explore the fall schedule and find opportunities that align with their goals.”
