CELORON, N.Y. — The SUNY Jamestown Community College Foundation honored Dr. John M. LaMancuso as its 2024 John D. Hamilton Award recipient at its annual awards gala held Nov. 6 at the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel.
The Hamilton Award was established in 1995 and recognizes individuals whose contributions exemplify those of Hamilton, a past president and trustee emeritus of JCC.

LaMancuso is a 1973 graduate of JCC, a 2001 Distinguished Alumnus recipient, and keynote commencement speaker. He earned a bachelor’s and medical degrees from the University at Buffalo and completed additional study at the Albany Medical College of Union University.
LaMancuso is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He began his private practice in internal medicine in Jamestown in 1982 and continues to serve as active medical staff in the department of medicine at UPMC Chautauqua.
LaMancuso supports the community in a number of capacities, including serving on committees for the Downtown Jamestown Development Corporation, Healthcare Action Team, Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, and Jamestown Public Schools Promise Fund. He is a lead physician member for the Jamestown Area Medical Associates/Great Lakes Physician Practice, Division of UPMC, Administrative Management Committee, and director of the Reginald A. & Elizabeth S. Lenna Foundation.
LaMancuso’s past positions include clinical instructor for the SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine, Jamestown Public Schools physician, associate medical director and in-house physician at Heritage Nursing facility, and he has held several leadership positions at WCA Hospital, including president of medical staff.
LaMancuso has served JCC as a member of the Educational Services Committee and is an ardent supporter of the JCC Foundation. His efforts have assisted in engaging former Distinguished Alumnus award winners and raising funds for the Unified Student Assistance Scholarship program.
