ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — Crystal Rose-Williams and Kyle Brown represented SUNY Jamestown Community College at an AI forum for regional business and community leaders in May at the Doyle Conference Center at St. Bonaventure University.
Hosted by St. Bonaventure in partnership with JCC, the forum brought together leaders from education, business, and community organizations to discuss the growing role of artificial intelligence in higher education, workforce development, and regional innovation.
Rose-Williams, associate vice president for Strategic Initiatives, and Brown, executive director of Information Technology, highlighted JCC's expanding efforts to integrate AI into academic programs, institutional planning, and community outreach.
Along with St. Bonaventure leaders Dave Hilmey and Mike Hoffman, Rose-Williams and Brown conversed with attendees about how AI is showing up in their organization, opportunities that exist, and how JCC and St. Bonaventure can help.

"Together with St. Bonaventure University and the Olean community, we're identifying needs and opportunities in AI to advance education, workforce readiness, and innovation to support our region," Rose-Williams said.
Brown emphasized the importance of collaboration as institutions and employers navigate emerging technologies together.
"The dialogue at this forum demonstrates that progress in AI comes from intentional, cross-sector leadership," Brown said. "We value the opportunity to listen, learn and co-create solutions with St. Bonaventure, JCC, and local business and community leaders."
JCC and St. Bonaventure leaders said open conversations like the forum are essential to ensuring regional institutions remain proactive in preparing students and employers for future workforce demands.
"By identifying needs and opportunities in AI together,” Rose-Williams said, “we can align strategic initiatives with workforce development, student success and regional innovation in a way that drives tangible outcomes for our region."
JCC has taken a formalized approach to artificial intelligence, publishing a position statement built around five guiding principles — innovation, ethics, equity and access, training and sustainability — which the Board of Trustees endorsed in 2025. The college's AI policies and procedures continue to evolve with the goal of aligning tools and resources to improve student success.
On the data and analytics front, JCC is developing a real-time dashboard to provide instant access to enrollment, retention and completion data. The college has also invested in Evisions Argos, a reporting and analytics platform that will serve as the foundation for dashboards, predictive analytics and faster data-informed decision-making for faculty and staff.
