This year percussionist, composer, producer, and Buffalo Music Hall of Fame 2000 inductee Wendell Rivera will perform with his Latin Jazz Ensemble. The event is free and open to the public.

“This ensemble has been the cornerstone of Latin music in Western New York for more than two decades,” shares Neil Flory, JCC associate professor and coordinator of Music. “They are sure to thrill the Jamestown community with their invigorating sound, which incorporates molten Afro-Caribbean grooves with spirited solos and the free, harmonic elements of progressive jazz.”

Rivera’s ensemble is comprised of Lisa Hasselback on piano, Mark Harris on bass, Joey Gonzales on timbales, Hansel Herrera, and Calvin Rice on trumpet. Rivera has performed with celebrities such as Aretha Franklin, Ben Vareen, and Dave Valentin.

“These are some of the area's best musicians,” Flory said. “Don’t miss this high-energy performance!”
