JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — SUNY Jamestown Community College will host an International Welcome Reception and Open House from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, in the Student Union on the Jamestown Campus.

Presented by JCC’s Global Learning office, the event celebrates the contributions of international students to the campus and to the Jamestown and Chautauqua County community.

The reception is open to the public and offers an opportunity to meet international students, explore their cultures, and learn how JCC’s Global Learning office is expanding opportunities for global engagement on campus.

JCC welcomed 72 new and returning international students for the fall semester, including 58 on the Jamestown Campus and 14 enrolled online. These students represent a vibrant mix of cultures and perspectives, hailing from 23 countries, including Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Cyprus, France, Georgia, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Portugal, Russia, Senegal, South Africa, Spain, United Kingdom, and Zimbabwe.

International student-athletes also bring their talents to JCC’s athletic programs, competing in men’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming, men’s  basketball, baseball, and hockey.

“Our international students enrich the entire JCC community,” said Kerri Brown, director of Global Learning at JCC. “They bring unique perspectives, traditions, and energy that strengthen our classrooms, athletics, and cultural life. The Welcome Reception is an opportunity for us to honor their journeys and make them feel at home here in Jamestown.”

Global Learning at JCC invites campus and community members to support international students by including them in cultural events, holidays, and local traditions. To learn more or get involved, contact the Global Learning office at international@sunyjcc.edu or 716.338.1041.
