Presentation proposals are being accepted now through April 5 for SUNY Jamestown Community College’s Student Showcase. Formerly known as Scholars Day, this event welcomes students who would like to present their work in one of four categories:

  • Personal narrative (story, poem)
  • Academic accomplishment (research, project, capstone)
  • Applied learning accomplishment (internship, study abroad, project-based learning)
  • Artistic accomplishment (2-D, 3-D, film)

Students wishing to participate must be enrolled at JCC, and projects must be endorsed by a JCC faculty member. This is an excellent opportunity for Honors students to fulfill their Honors requirements. Submissions that have been presented at other venues or that are works in progress are welcome.

Students in any discipline are invited to apply, and applications may be found online on the Student Showcase web page.

Students may choose any of the following presentation styles:

  • Speech with poster board
  • Speech with slide show using their choice of presentation platform
  • Speech with other media
  • Speech alone
  • Video submission

If accepted, students must have their final projects, plus a project description of 200-350 words, ready by April 12. If doing a poster presentation, students must submit the final PDF to Career Services by this date.

Presentations will be judged from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 26 at Lenna Theatre in the Jamestown Campus Hultquist Library.  Winners in each category will then present from 12:20-1:20 p.m. April 30 in the Jamestown Campus Student Union. All are welcome to attend both rounds of presentations.

First-, second-, and third-place finishers will be awarded cash prizes in each of the four categories. See the winners of past years’ events here.
