The SUNY Jamestown Community College Foundation is teaming up with the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres foundations to help raise funds for the Veteran's Scholarship in Memory of Traci C. Maybach during the Give 716 campaign.
Give 716 begins at 7:16 p.m. on July 15 and runs through midnight on July 16. The goal is to unite Buffalo Bills and Sabres fans in a giving event that benefits nonprofit organizations in the Western New York area. Since its inception in 2021, the annual giving event has raised more than $4.4 million for 898 participating charities.
The JCC Foundation participated in Give 716 for the first time last year, raising funds for the Unified Student Assistance Scholarship.
"We're excited to again be part of this epic giving event in our region,” said Katrina Leake, JCC’s Development & Alumni Relations coordinator. “Donating to the JCC Foundation on 7/16 will help our veterans and family members go to college and have the resources they need to succeed.”
The scholarship named in memory of Maybach was established in 2013 to ease the financial burden of attaining a college degree for veterans, those currently serving on active duty or on reserve status, their spouses, and their children or dependents.
The Veterans Scholarship is awarded to eligible full- or part-time students seeking a degree or certificate at any of JCC’s locations. The scholarship is applied directly to the student’s account and is put toward tuition and/or textbook expenses not covered by Veterans Affairs education benefits.
Maybach, a Jamestown resident who died unexpectedly in September 2013 at the age of 52. Maybach was an ardent volunteer supporter of veterans.
