International students at SUNY Jamestown Community College will showcase the cultures, languages, and food from their home countries during the annual “Go Global!” International Fair from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20 in the Student Union, located in the Hamilton Collegiate Center on the Jamestown Campus.

“We’re excited to offer this unique opportunity for our community to learn something new from our inspiring international students,” said Kerri Brown, director for Global Learning at JCC. “Your senses will awaken as you experience a journey that makes you feel as though you are traveling to destinations you’ve always dreamed of.”

Approximately 150 local high school students from the College Connections High School Partnership program will participate in breakout sessions about study abroad programs through the college. They will also be able to interact with a panel of international students to learn about their experiences as study abroad students in the United States before experiencing the fair.

Global Learning staff worked with the International Club on campus to create a new design for the fair that groups countries according to continent to better provide a globetrotting experience.

“We have a total of 66 international students at SUNY JCC,” Daniella Naidoo of South Africa and president of the International Club said. “They represent 22 countries, and we will showcase several of them at the fair.”

New to the fair will be a “Global Marketplace,” where attendees can explore a diverse array of goods and services. Funds generated from the marketplace will be applied to JCC’s International Student Support Fund, which empowers students from around the globe to thrive in their educational journeys.

“Come for the culture, and stay for the community,” Brown said. “We welcome all individuals, businesses, and organizations interested in international education, study abroad, and exchange activities to join us in celebrating diversity and making a difference together.”
