Globalize Your Mind: Guatemala, a course in which participants study Spanish and perform service learning work, will be offered May 23 through June 7.

The cost of the trip, which includes housing, meals, airfare, travel insurance, and excursions, is approximately $3,000. The first payment of $750 is due January 15. New York state tuition is an additional cost. Scholarships are available.

As a prerequisite, participants are required to attend classes at JCC from 5-7:45 p.m. on Tuesdays, March 24 through May 7. To register for the course, contact Theresa Baginski, professor of Spanish, at 338.1159.              

One-on-one Spanish instruction will be provided. Students will explore the social, historical, and cultural history of Guatemala while volunteering for a local organization. Tours of Antigua, the Mayan ruins of Tikal, and the Pacaya volcano are among the landmarks that will be toured.

The course, which is open to the public, is designed for individuals hoping to learn or improve their Spanish.
