JCC is considered among the area’s top providers of customized skill and industry preparation training, and is set on becoming the premier resource for workforce needs.

“JCC’s workforce readiness department connects academic, technical, vocational, and employability knowledge and skills with the needs of employers,” notes Holger Ekanger, JCC’s vice president of workforce readiness.

JCC has provided training to enrich workplace related knowledge and capabilities for area companies for decades, Ekanger adds. Increasingly, the call for customized training relates to the need and desire for manufacturers to keep pace in a global marketplace.

Ring Precision Components, a business unit of the Producto Corporation located in Jamestown, provided nearly 40 of its employees with specific training to enhance skills recently.

“Ring Precision Components manufactures custom components for a variety of markets, including injection molding, munitions, medical-pharmaceutical, compaction, steel stamping, and metal forming industries,” notes Melissa Himes, human resources manager at Ring Precision. “JCC developed and delivered customized training to help meet our needs within a changing workforce. The training helped employees refine their baseline skills.”

JCC’s training package for the Ring Precision employees focused on shop math, blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and CNC G and M codes.

“JCC worked closely with Ring Precision to ensure that the training was exactly what the company needed,” says Ekanger. “We pride ourselves on the quality of our programs and instructors to guide students to a better understanding of the tasks in front of them.”

In addition, funds from a State University of New York workforce development training grant were used to reduce the total training cost to Ring Precision.
