Students are invited to participate in an open audition from 4:30-6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15 in the Scharmann Theatre on the SUNY Jamestown Community College Jamestown Campus for the April Emerging Artist Showcase, “Tales from Us.”

Mark Sasse, Arts Programming administrator for SUNY JCC, knows that talent can be found in unexpected places. The self, for example, is a fine place to start looking.
“I was once a trapped writer,” Sasse said. “I spent 20 years thinking my work was not special, that there were lots of writers and any one of them was better than me.”
Now a published author, Sasse is motivated to help students realize their talents right away. He created the Emerging Artist Series to support students interested in all aspects of theater, from writing to directing and acting. “Tales from Us” will be the group’s first production.
“It’s a set of short plays, some are comedic, and some are dramatic,” Sasse said. “We’re looking for a variety of actors to fill the roles.”
Those interested in an audition should contact Sasse at MarkSasse@mail.sunyjcc.edu to set up an audition time. Alternate times are available for those who are not available during the audition hours.
