SUNY Jamestown Community College is expanding the academic and workforce development course offerings available at the North County Center in Dunkirk.
The location has long been an option for students in northern Chautauqua County who want to stay closer to home while taking general education classes to work toward a degree, pursuing 10-week courses, or one-year certificate paths. This academic year will see a 12-week Industrial Maintenance Technician training and Human Biology course open at the Bennett Road location.
Presale tickets for the Chautauqua County Fair are available through July 15 at SUNY Jamestown Community College’s North County Center main office located at 10807 Bennett Road in Dunkirk.
The presale cost for general admission is $10 each and will increase to $15 at the gate. Wende Lescynski, director of Adult Learner initiatives and the North County Center, says that anyone coming to the center to purchase fair tickets is also welcome to learn more about programs available through JCC while they are there.
Laura Parmenter, SUNY Jamestown Community College’s director of Online Learning, recently completed the inaugural New York State Community College Leadership Academy in Albany.
Two SUNY Jamestown Community College faculty were recently awarded a Community College Internationalization Fellowship by Cornell University’s Latin American & Caribbean Studies Program.
SUNY Jamestown Community College is helping prospective students and families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
Virtual support assistance led by JCC staff and students started in May and goes through the end of August. Sessions are scheduled for 11 a.m. to noon and 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Mondays, 11 a.m. to noon and 3-4 p.m. on Wednesdays, and 2-3 p.m. on Fridays.

SUNY Jamestown Community College Workforce Development held graduation ceremonies for 28 students who successfully completed the Industrial Maintenance Technician, Machining/CNC Operator, or Welding Fundamentals Advanced Manufacturing programs.
