Hyflex

Flex courses may provide students with the opportunity to meet in-person on campus, on the synchronous days and times already scheduled, if conditions allow.
Imputed credits
Imputed credits are developmental courses for students who need to prepare themselves for college-level work. They count toward financial aid requirements but do not count toward earned college credits or GPA.
Interactive TV
Classes are taught live from one campus location and broadcast to one or more additional campus locations. Cameras and microphones at all sites allow faculty and learners to see and talk with each other.

This course introduces fundamental skills required in health care setting, with a focus on competencies essential for Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs) and other allied health professionals. Students will develop foundational knowledge in patient care, infection control, communication, documentation, body mechanics, and safety procedures. Through lectures and hands-on lab experiences, students will practice essential skills such as patient transfers, vital signs assessment, professional communication, and therapeutic interactions. This course provides an overview of healthcare professions, systems, and foundational principles that guide patient care and professional practice. This course explores philosophical, historical, ethical, and professional aspects of health care professions. Students will examine how different health care professions contribute to patient-centered care and will develop skills in critical thinking, professional communication, and ethical reasoning. Students will be introduced to concepts and techniques needed to provide care to patients with neurological, orthopedic, and muscular-skeletal conditions. Students will refine transfer and goniometry techniques, while developing skills with manual muscle testing, mobility, and the application of treatment approaches relevant to the physically disabled population.
