Instructor/Gallery Academic Outreach Coordinator
I’m an artist, curator, and educator. I am new to the Jamestown area and look forward to exploring and learning about the community.
I teach full time at Jamestown Community College on the Jamestown Campus. In the past, I have taught at Hudson Valley Community College, The University at Albany, and Skidmore College.
When I’m not teaching, I’m likely in my studio making sculpture. I’m interested in making work using materials that are often concealed, discarded, or overlooked. I often use domestic objects (memory foam mattresses, laundry baskets), construction materials (concrete, plaster), and family heirlooms (my great-grandfather's rusty wooden ladder). I’m particularly interested in exploring my role as a woman sculptor working with these materials. Currently, I have a sculpture installed at The Albany Airport in Albany, New York.
It’s important to me that the Art + Design studio is a place on campus where everyone feels welcome, a space that encourages collaboration and development of “out of the box” ideas. In my classes, students explore materials, learn new skills, and contemplate new concepts. I welcome diversity and believe students should have the freedom to learn in a space that champions equity and inclusion. My favorite part of my job is guiding students to find their individual creative voice.
